The top GESI employers in global development

An overview of the leading development organizations hiring for gender equality and social inclusion roles on Devex's job board, and their latest openings around the globe.

    By Genevieve Gregorio // 27 June 2024
Organizations working in international development have published numerous papers on integrating gender equality and social inclusion, or GESI, in the development process. GESI has been one of the most relevant and trending concepts in global development in recent years, with Nepal leading the way with its efforts to promote inclusion and guarantee equal rights for all its citizens. The application of this concept is necessary to ensure that development efforts benefit everyone, especially the marginalized. Development professionals interested in GESI roles will be pleased to find opportunities with several United Nations agencies, led by UN Women, and financial institutions and foundations such as the Asian Development Bank and Gates Foundation. Such opportunities are most present in the United States and developing regions of Asia and the Pacific, East Africa, and Eastern Europe. As Pride Month comes to a close, we now look into the top global development organizations that work to ensure equality for all people, regardless of gender identity/expression and social background. Here are the top employers for GESI positions over the last three-plus years, based on jobs posted on Devex’s job board from January 2021 to June 2024.
