As part of our ongoing exploration of the top global development employers in key areas around the world, we explore Africa’s career hubs and bilateral organizations, beyond the work of the United Nations and other large INGOs and MDBs.

It is a highly diverse region of the world, with a mix of low- middle- and high-income countries. The continent is also home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies and several nations highly affected by internal conflicts and natural hazards, making Africa a key focus for global development work — especially in the fields of health, education, and humanitarian response. In this article, we look into the countries with the most job openings in the Northern, Central or Middle, Southern, East Africa, and Western Africa regions over the past 12 months. We highlight top organizations active in these regions, focusing on bilateral organizations and regional players, beyond the work of the United Nations and other large INGOs and MDBs with an income over $500 million.
