A United States congressional representative has written to USAID Administrator Samantha Power with “serious concerns” about the agency’s global health supply chain project — a $9.5 billion effort to deliver lifesaving health commodities around the world.
“Specifically, we are concerned with the merits of the initial contract award process, reported corruption allegations, transparency deficiencies, project performance, and the project’s long-term sustainability,” Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican from Iowa, wrote to Power in a Dec. 9 letter that Devex obtained.
“We have serious concerns about USAID’s unwillingness to issue these contracts in a way that promotes long-term sustainability and country self-reliance,” she wrote.
