I am a registered Professional Engineer in Tanzania, Member of Institution of Engineers in Tanzania, holding a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree (Bangalore University, India 1999) and a Master of Transportation Engineering Degree (University of Pretoria, South Africa 2005). I have done presentation in Professional Conferences, Southern Africa Transport Congress, Pretoria South Africa in 2004 (ISBN # 1-920-01723-2). Apart from my professional affiliations, I have received extensive training in consulting and construction projects in Tanzania, South Africa prior to joining the UN where I have been privileged to work in various Missions in Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Israel and now in the DR of Congo for a period of now more than 13 years. In UNAMIS (then UNMIS and later UNMISS) I was working as a Civil Engineer responsible for Roads, Bridges and Airfields. Among other projects as assigned by the CES, I was responsible for major projects including: - Project Manager and Lead Engineer for the Mission managed Roaming Roads Maintenance Programme (RRMP) which was tasked with road rehabilitation for main road connecting South Sudan to Uganda that was the main supply route; - Project Manager and Lead Engineer for the design and construction of the UNMIS Apron and adjoining taxiway at Juba International Airport, South Sudan. This is a unique project as the apron was built on a swampy area that was fully reclaimed; - Project Manager and Lead Engineer for the Design and Tender documents preparations for the Construction of UNMIS Aprons and adjoining taxiways at Juba, Khartoum and El Obeid Airports in Sudan. During my tenure with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), I was responsible for planning and implementation of engineering project including infrastructure, water and sanitation, HVAC and electrical for all UNISFA locations including new sites for Joint Border Verification and Monitoring (JBVMM) at Assosa (Ethiopia) and Malakal (South Sudan). In MONUSCO, I had an opportunity to work at the Entebbe Support Base in Uganda as a Field Engineering Officer for a period of more than two years, where I was tasked with the responsibilities to support MONUSCO in DRC. I was also tasked as the Project Manager responsible for the planning, design, tendering and construction supervision of all major projects (horizontal and vertical infrastructure) for the realization of the Regional Service Center at Entebbe (RSCE) development. The projects includes but not limited to the construction of infrastructure to cater for the operations of the Regional Service Center at Entebbe (RSCE) that includes construction of a TIA 3 Data Center, construction of office buildings (4 buildings of G +1 blocks), construction of a power house for power generation for the RSCE/ESB, as well as design review for the infrastructure including power, water, sewage, CITS and internal roads for the whole base. The projects at Entebbe were very complicated as they involve various stakeholders within UN (9 Regional Missions that were served by RSCE) as well as Local Authorities, Consultants (for Design of the buildings and infrastructures) and the contractors. Project estimated at approximately US $ 37M were initiated and done during the tenure including Construction supervision and project management of ICT Support Centre, 2 sets of two storied twin office buildings US $ 7,615,754.08, Design review, tender assistance for the construction of Regional Training and Conference Centre, Planning, design, prioritization and tender process for the upgrading of electrical distribution (medium and low), water supply, sewage conveyance, IT cabling network, internal roads and other services. Recently I was reassigned to United Nations Truce Supervision Office (UNTSO -Jerusalem) as the Chief Engineering and Facilities Management Section responsible for refurbishment of main HQ, Out stations and support to UNSCO operations throughout the Region of operations. I have experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessment (project related) as implementing environmental mitigation projects that includes environmental friendly building designs and construction (RSCE Capital project), design and installation/construction of power supply systems (auto changeover/synchronization systems (Medium/Low voltage distribution systems), waste water/sewage systems and related. I believe based on my pre-UN, and UN system experience as well as my academic and work experience of more than 19 years in Tanzania, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, DR of Congo, Middle East and Uganda, I am qualified for the post. Further, my experience in new buildings as well as refurbishments for UN office and understanding of the nuances of UN security and other requirements for office and accommodations makes me the best candidate for any relating position.
