Mr. Cheikh Gassama is an international development professional specializing in operational management of international development projects, financial management, program design, monitoring and evaluation project with a high emotional intelligence and strong leadership. He has more than 25 years’ experience of developing tools, implementing and capacity building based on andragogy approach. His areas of technical expertise include, but not limited to project management, governance, supply chain management, health system strengthening, HIV/AIDS, malaria, family planning, reproductive health, and nutrition. Currently Mr. Gassama manages USAID – Integrated Health Districts Project - OWOD (Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health, Immunization, and Malaria (RMNCI+M) Activity) in Senegal as Chief of Party (COP). He is very familiar with different programs: USAID (with PMI and PEPFAR initiatives), Global Fund, … He has significant experience working with international development organizations on programs aimed at advancing public health programs in various areas. Through his broad management and technical expertise that span over 25 years, Cheikh had directed, designed, and oversaw implementation of public health programs in Senegal, Burundi, and Guinea. Cheikh is a skillful organizational leader with verifiable experience in strategic leadership, with abilities to lead a diverse team of national and foreign professionals. He has got proven ability to build and maintain genuine rapport, particularly interacting productively, proactively, and comfortably with USAID, government agencies, international organizations, civil society organizations and donors’ community. His skills in capacity building and coaching have led the NMCP in Burundi in 2015 to become Global Fund Principal Recipient for malaria component through USAID/PMI-LMG (Leadership, Management and Governance) project. He led the process from capacity assessment to strength financial and programmatic capacities, concept note developing approval by the TRP, grant making for the implementation and the grant signing. Mr. Gassama is holding a MA in International Development at Laval University in Canada and master’s degree in economics at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Senegal. Most recently Mr. obtained a Mini master’s in supply chain management with the Arizona State University. He is ready to work independently with a minimum of supervision in stressing situations
