I have 20 years experience in international trade development for government and private sector organizations including director and management postings. My work experience includes a long term posting in South East Asia and senior management international business development positions with Vancouver-based high tech, engineering and resource investment companies. Establishment and management of strategic joint venture partnerships in Asian markets was the primary focus of work with private sector organizations. I am currently the Accounts Manager with the Nunavut Business Credit Corporation and Crown Agency responsible for credit facilities and financial services for Nunavut businesses. From 2000 to 2012 I worked for the Government of Nunavut in senior management positions for Tourism Trade Export and Investment. I was appointed to the Committee on International Trade (C-Trade) as representative for the Government of Nunavut in 2001. During my ten years as the C-Trade representative I established strong working relations with Federal / Provincial and Territorial trade policy and development officials including our international posts in key markets. I have a demonstrated track record in analysis, negotiation and implementation of trade development policies and initiatives which have led to opportunities to work with Deputy Ministers and Ministers responsible for trade through Ministerial level representation on trade policy and development on various international trade issues. I have negotiated and managed multi and bi lateral intergovernmental trade cooperation agreements. This work included the successful advocacy of Aboriginal rights, resource development investment terms & conditions and market access in international agreements. Specifically this work involved the development and implementation of successful investment attraction strategies with the US, China and India that have resulted in a significant resource development investment. Through my experience with private sector organizations and work on specific international trade issues of concern for private sector groups I have gained an in-depth understanding of the implications of international trade regulations on resource development, investment and business. My experience includes the role of government representative on various boards of directors of industry associations and the local chamber of commerce. In this capacity I have been instrumental in achieving collaborative working relations between private sector organizations and government in the development of domestic and international business opportunities. I am well versed in internal government communications including departmental and Ministerial briefing notes, speaking points, Cabinet submissions and Treasury Board requests. I have managed the administration of a variety of economic development funding programs for the Government of Nunavut over the past 10 years and have secured and managed in excess of $2 million in federal funding for trade and tourism development projects. I have also successfully coordinated a number of domestic and international trade and investment missions including Nunavut’s participation in Team Canada missions to Asia and Europe. Coordination of trade missions to Asia, Europe and the USA is a significant component of my trade development work for both private and public sector organizations. I am confident that my diverse experience and in depth understanding of government operations and procedures in international trade provides me with the required skills and abilities to effectively carry out the objectives and responsibilities of the Executive Director, International Investment and Company Attraction Sincerely Dushyenth Ganesan
