Kamal is a Senior Advisor at GIZ, where he manages the policy component of a project called “Promotion of Access to Financial Services for SMEs in Egypt”. As part of that project, Kamal, among other things, heads the implementation of a technical assistance program to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), which regulates Egypt’s banking sector, and to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), which regulates non-bank financial institutions in Egypt. Prior to joining GIZ, Kamal enjoyed a17-year career at IFC (private sector arm of the World Bank Group) on its investment side as an Investment Analyst, Associate Investment Officer, and Investment Officer covering various projects, in many different business sectors, in the Middle East North Africa Region. While at IFC, he worked out of its offices in Cairo, Washington, D.C. and Jakarta. Kamal earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his MBA from London Business School, and a Masters in Branding from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
