As an experienced professional in the field of Customs and Tax Administration, I have held various leadership roles in risk management and compliance strategy across different countries in Africa and the Caribbean. My career spans over 17 years, during which I have made significant contributions to improving customs and revenue authorities' operational efficiency and effectiveness. Currently, I serve as an Advisor on Customs Risk Management for a World Bank project under the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity initiative with the Malawi Revenue Authority. In this role, I am responsible for providing strategic guidance and implementing advanced risk management practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of customs operations. As the Director of the Risk and Compliance at the Ministry of Revenues in Ethiopia, I was instrumental in formulating and executing comprehensive risk management strategies, contributing to significant improvements in revenue collection and compliance. I have also served in various short-term consultancy positions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Customs and Revenue Authorities in multiple countries, including The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Jamaica, and Malawi. I have facilitated numerous regional workshops and training sessions, organized by the IMF. My diverse experience and deep understanding of customs and tax administration have equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change and support the implementation of effective risk management and compliance strategies on a global scale.
