Nermeen Obeidat is the Chief of Party for the USAID YouthPower program in Jordan. Nermeen is a strong believer in the importance of youth empowerment and the enforcement of their creative energies to shape brighter and positive futures for themselves and others. She received her BA in architecture to design and implement institutional and development programs through the public sector and the donor agencies in Jordan, Oman, and the MENA region. She occupied various advisory positions in the domains of strategic planning for development, political, and government communications in many institutions including: the Jordanian Prime Ministry through the Public Sector Reform Program, and the Higher Council for Planning in Oman to develop the Oman VISION 2040. In addition to the Jordanian Ministry of Education on the decentralization of the roles of School and Directorate to improve students learning and education performance, and through the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development to transform poverty pockets into productive and empowered communities. The closest word to her heart is “empowerment” particularly for women and girls, youth, and persons with disabilities. She is an advocate of gender equality, and a believer in granting the nationality rights for children of Jordanian women who are married to non-Jordanians. She also holds advanced degrees in Designing Public Policies through Human Economics and Behavior from Kennedy School of Government, Harvard and an MA in Political Communications from the Chevening Scholarship from Goldsmiths, University of London. She was featured as one of Women in Business Arabia's "365 Inspiring Women in the Arab World” for the year 2020.
