• Bachelor's Degree (in Building Economics) of the University of Nairobi with extensive training in design and construction economics including budgeting and estimating, cost planning, cost control/management, cost monitoring and project financial administration from feasibility stage of project through to the completion of the construction period. • Post graduate professional qualification as Quantity Surveyor: Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) in the United Kingdom; Registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) of Kenya; Corporate Member of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (CIQSK). • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP): Accredited by the global Project Management Institute (PMI), having been formerly evaluated for demonstrated experience, knowledge, and performance in achieving an organizational objective through defining and overseeing projects and resources. • Overall, 35 years' post-qualification relevant work experience in the construction industry, out of which 20 years in Kenya and 15 years' international experience in several countries including Malawi, Liberia, Swaziland, Botswana, Tanzania, and Uganda; and including 5 years' relevant experience in the United Kingdom. • Over 10 years Project Management experience with international organization with proven familiarity with UN, EU, WB, AfDB, FIDIC, NEC, JCT and other forms of contracts for local/international procurement for building and civil engineering works and installations, schedule of works (SoWs), technical specifications in design and construction of facilities and procedures on procurement of goods, works and services and acquisition of consultancy services. • Overall 6 year's specific experience with United Nations agencies as Business Operations Strategy Coordinator with UNDP Malawi, Consultant - Management Support at UNICEF Malawi Country Office and as Quantity Surveyor Consultant at United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), respectively, with specific experience in infrastructure assessments, costing, financial forecasting and value engineering, preparation of bills of quantities and compilation of tender documents; quality control and contract management in line with UN procedures; extensive experience with United Nations forms of contracts and UNCITRAL model law on procurement of goods, construction and services; Knowledge of the UN Financial Rules, Regulations and working practices, Experience working with UMOJA (the new UN ERP system of data management). • Relevant experience in review of developer's budget for the proposed One UN House in Lilongwe, Malawi ($21.3 million), including analysis of initial investment costs and return on investment and projection of rents payable by UN agencies, cost estimates and options for phased implementation and coordination of detailed feasibility study; preparation of cost benefit analysis and business case and liaising with Task Force on Common Premises and Facilities Service (NY). • Practical experience in collection of physical data as well as assemble a detailed inventory of real estate: United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) - compilation of replacement and depreciated replacement costs, valuation of real estate assets in a 140 acres UNON compound comprising office buildings ($100 million) and infrastructure ($50 million), componentization of assets in line with International Public-Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). • Focal Point for UNON Strategic Capital Review involved in coordination of consultants to undertake a building conditions assessment of the UNON facilities to establish the Capital Investments project requirements for the next 20 years, focused on long term planning for building maintenance and infrastructure expansion requirements. • Computer Skills include MS Office applications and fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili and basic working knowledge of French.
