Pacific Australia Skills is a significant Australian investment which stands to make a major contribution to supporting social and economic growth in the region through strengthening the skills and training sector across the Pacific and Timor-Leste. Pacific Australia Skills builds on the achievements of 17 years of Australian Government support for skills and training in the Pacific.
The Role
As part of the DVTPD team, the Careers Pathway Officer has a critical role in preparing TVET students for productive employment and contributing to social wellbeing.
The role supports students to develop career strategies, connect with employers, and build the skills, knowledge and attributes that will ensure long-term engagement in the Nauru workforce.
The role involves providing personalized career guidance, developing and delivering workshops and resources to support student employability, facilitating industry placements, and strengthening industry partnerships.
The role contributes to the Nauru Sustainable Development Strategy 2019-2030, especially:
• Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong opportunities for all
• Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
The Careers Pathway Officer uses initiative to undertake activities consistent with the purpose of the role. Decision-making is expected to be collaborative and involves engaging with internal and external stakeholders as required.
Where decisions may involve sensitive or high-risk matters, the Officer will consult with senior managers in the Department of Vocational Training and Professional Development.
