Job Description

An opportunity to shape the UN’s digital narrative, drive global engagement on emerging technology issues, and enhance the visibility of the UN’s work on digital cooperation and AI governance. The incumbent of this position will be personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

UNOPS has signed an agreement with the UN Digital Cooperation Multi-Partner Trust Fund (Administered by UNDP MPTFO) to implement the project activities for the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UNODET).

The UNODET was established on 1 January 2025, with a mandate to: (a) advise the senior leadership of the United Nations on key trends in technology, so as to guide the strategic approach taken by the Organization on such issues; (b) serve as advocate and focal point for digital cooperation, through engagement with Member States, the technology industry, civil society and other stakeholders; (c) facilitate multi-stakeholder policy dialogue on digital and emerging technologies; (d) strengthen system-wide coordination within and across the United Nations system on digital and emerging technologies; (e) support the follow-up and implementation of the Global Digital Compact (A/RES/79/1 Annex 1).

Through the Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, UNODET also leads the implementation of the Secretary-General’s vision on digital cooperation by working closely with various UN entities and multi-stakeholder groups, facilitating dialogue to accelerate global digital cooperation, seizing on the opportunities that are presented by technology – while mitigating the risks – so that progress towards achieving the Goals by 2030 can be made collectively, as well as carrying out other related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Secretary-General, including follow up actions from the Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation and the report “Our Common Agenda”.

Under the supervision of the Senior Communication Manager, the incumbent will contribute to developing visual materials and communication strategies that strengthen ODET’s brand, amplify its initiatives, and promote collaboration among global stakeholders.

  • Contribute to positioning ODET’s initiatives through engaging, brand-consistent messaging and design.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen ODET’s visibility and ensure alignment with UN communication standards and priorities.

  • Content and Campaign Development
  • Manage the design and production of written, visual, and digital materials, including reports, web content, and multimedia campaigns.

  • Ensure coherence and quality of messaging across all ODET platforms.

  • Develop narratives and visual assets that convey ODET’s impact and thought leadership.

  • Asset Development:
  • Design visual reports, templates for social media posts and presentations to support ODET’s communication objectives.

  • Work closely with other communications personnel to create visually appealing and impactful content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).

  • Assist the Communications Lead in adapting visual content for various platforms, optimizing designs for different formats and audiences.

  • Develop infographics, charts, videos, and data visualizations that communicate complex policy information and data insights in an accessible and engaging way.

  • Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
