The internship is UNPAID, full-time (35 hours per week), and in-person.
Interns will be placed in the Peacebuilding Commission Support Branch (PCSB) and report to the Senior Political Affairs Officer(s).
Tasks include:
Research, compile, and summarize background materials for meetings, reports, and summaries.
Assist in coordinating service-wide activities, including meetings, training, special projects, and events.
Support management and development of internal databases; update the website; generate standard and non-standard statistical and other reports.
Assist in preparing presentation materials using appropriate technology/software.
Perform various administrative duties as requested.
Interns are encouraged to work independently on substantive issues while supporting day-to-day office operations.
Interns are also encouraged to explore relevant training options offered to UN staff at Headquarters.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate program (second university degree or higher).
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Field of study should be closely related to the internship.
Applicants must provide proof of enrollment or completion; official certificate to be provided at a later stage.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of French is an asset.
Official UN languages include Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

Intern Specific Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may need to obtain appropriate visas or work/employment authorizations.
