Duties and Responsibilities
The Innovation Team of ESCAP is looking for a creative and entrepreneurial intern to assist in design, communication and promotion of innovation activities that foster a culture of innovation and support the organization in delivering new and better products and services.

Background

  • ESCAP is the most inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region, supporting inclusive, resilient and sustainable development.
  • The Innovation Team leads efforts to promote innovation in knowledge products, culture, and internal processes.
  • This internship is under the Division of Administration, supervised by the Office of the Executive Secretary, and reports directly to Innovation Team members.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Innovation Team, the intern will support key deliverables for the 2025/26 cycle:

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of innovation activities and events across the organization.
  • Assist in consultations, needs assessments, and pilot projects applying innovation, foresight, behavioral science, and automation solutions.
  • Support ideation, testing, and promotion of new digital tools, including responsible use of AI technologies.
  • Develop and maintain communication materials and platforms (e.g. presentations, LinkedIn content, internal sites).
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing platform design and user experience.
  • Conduct research and analysis on innovation methodologies, behavioral science, and digital transformation.
  • Support communication efforts, including newsletters, reports, and storytelling content.
  • Perform other tasks as required, including support to strategic initiatives and experiments.

Qualifications/Special Skills
Education
To qualify for the internship, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent), preferably in Innovation Management, Business, Entrepreneurship, Communications, Creative Design, or related fields; OR
  • Be in the final year of a first university degree programme; OR
  • Have graduated with a university degree as defined above.

Additional Required Skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and SharePoint development is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated interest in the UN and commitment to its ideals.
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI tools for productivity, ideation, or content creation.
  • Proficiency in tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, Figma.
  • Skills in content creation (social media, newsletters, web platforms).
  • Understanding of user-centered design or digital transformation.

Preferred Experience (not required)

  • Academic/practical experience in innovation, behavioral science, or digital transformation.
  • Exposure to AI tools like ChatGPT, image generators, AI design platforms.
  • Experience creating communication materials (presentations, newsletters, web content).
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools (SharePoint, Notion, Office 365).
  • Participation in workshops or events related to innovation or communication.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
