The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a proactive and
responsible IT Intern from the professional careers of Systems Engineering,
Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or related careers to be
part of the Information Technology team.

About CIP: CIP is part of the CGIAR global research partnership
committed to transforming food, land, and water systems in a climate crisis.
CIP’s mission is to develop and share science-based innovations in potato,
sweet-potato, and other root and tuber crops. CIP partners with organizations
in over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to strengthen agri-food
systems and provide economic, social, and nutritional benefits, especially for

The position: This position will be based in HQ-Lima, Peru.

Training
activities:

  • Assist
    the development of AI-based applications including AI assistants and chatbots
    tailored to agricultural research and operation’s needs.
  • Assist
    in the creation and maintenance of AI-ready databases including knowledge
    graphs and vector databases optimized for CIP’s domain knowledge.
  • Assist
    in the implementation of AI models into production systems with appropriate
    monitoring and evaluation.
  • Assist
    in the facilitation of CIP’s AI community of practice meetings and
    organizational communication.


Requirements

What are we looking for?

  • Students
    of the last semesters or recently graduated in Systems Engineering,
    Informatics Engineering, Computer Science, Data science or similar at a
    university or technical institute.
  • Knowledge
    of AI development tools and frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex,
    Haystack, or similar). Courses, projects or certifications on these
    technologies are desirable.
  • Experience
    with database development and management. Knowledge of Graph Databases
    (e.g Neo4J) and Vector databases (e.g. Pinecone or Chroma) is an added
    advantage.
  • Enthusiastic
    about applying AI technologies to solve global challenges including
    climate change, poverty and inequality.
  • Intermediate
    English level.
