Job Description

The Role

  • Remote, work from home position with regular travel across the Pacific
  • Competitive renumeration package

Reporting to the Development Effectiveness Specialist, the Disability Equity Adviser will provide technical advice and direct support to assist the Partnerships Platform to address disability outcomes in aspects of program implementation to enable inclusive and equitable outcomes of the Partnerships Platform program outcomes.

This role will:

  • Leveraging local networks to the extent possible, contribute to programs’ support to partner countries which progresses reforms and policies which are more inclusive of persons with disabilities.
  • Provide strategic advice, services and coordination to enable supported development activities, programs, services and approaches being more inclusive of persons with disabilities.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity development support to strengthen technical advisers’ capabilities to both target and mainstream disability equity across their workplans; in-line with partner government priorities.
  • Deliver disability equity training, mentoring, coaching and technical assistance activities to strengthen the Partnerships Platform’s program delivery and support DFAT Posts.

About you

You’re a driven and knowledgeable professional with a background in international development, social work, psychology, or a related field. You bring hands-on experience in disability equity audits, training delivery, and inclusive development especially within Pacific contexts. Your ability to build institutional capacity and apply diverse capacity development approaches makes you a trusted adviser. Ideally, you’ve worked in or supported small island developing states, and you’re passionate about embedding disability inclusion into budgeting and broader development strategies.
