Work under the direct supervision of the Associate Information Systems Officer in the Space Applications Section, UNOOSA, Vienna, Austria.
Conduct online research on the use of space technologies for water resource management (actors, projects, technologies).
Work with remote sensing data, perform geospatial analysis, and create maps for publication on the portal or in articles.
Collect and aggregate data.
Contribute to or write short articles (science and popular science) on space technologies for water resource management or hydrology.
Prepare posts and outreach material.
Add and edit content on the Space4Water Portal (web content editing).
Update the glossary.
Perform other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate program (second university degree or higher), or final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
No professional work experience required.
Must provide an official certificate at a later stage.
Computer literate with proficiency in standard software applications, spreadsheet preparation, and database management (MS Excel, Libre Base, online data extraction using R).
Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
