Participate in a full-time, UNPAID internship under the supervision of a staff member in the Transport Division/Transport Connectivity and Logistics Section.
Write qualitative briefs and reports on international railway transport and related issues in ESCAP region countries, evaluating policy effectiveness for sustainable development.
Support preparation of country reports by collecting information from authentic primary and secondary sources.
Identify and select appropriate research methodologies for data collection and analysis.
Coordinate with Transport Division experts to identify key issues and research priorities.
Review, analyze, and compile collected data into reports, including tables, graphs, and charts with proper references.
Synthesize research findings and explore replication of results in other countries across Asia and the Pacific.
Prepare presentations on research findings, lessons learned, and internship outcomes for Division staff.
Assist in the day-to-day work of the Division, including administrative tasks typical of UN organizations.
Undertake other work as requested, in line with the intern’s background and interests.

Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in, or recently completed, a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
No prior work experience is required, though relevant education, training, or skills should benefit the UN during the internship.
Candidates who have completed more than four months of internship with UN entities will not be considered unless enrolled in a different degree program.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
Additional Information
Internship is UNPAID.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
Non-citizens may require appropriate visa or work/employment authorization.
Intern-Specific Requirements
Full-time, five days per week.
