Duties and Responsibilities

  • ESCAP is the most inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region, promoting cooperation among 53 member States and 9 associate members.
  • Supports inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development by generating action-oriented knowledge, providing technical assistance, and offering capacity-building services.
  • ESCAP’s national support is linked with the implementation of global and regional intergovernmental frameworks, agreements, and instruments.
  • The Division of Administration (DA) manages and delivers all administrative support to ensure efficiency and compliance with UN regulations, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • The intern reports to the Human Resources Officer in the Staffing Diversity and Outreach Unit (SDOU) of the Human Resources Management Section (HRMS), Division of Administration (DA).
  • The internship is UNPAID, full-time (35 hours/week), and lasts 2–6 months.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist in social media outreach (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter).
    • Conduct recruiting outreach.
    • Assist with administration related to the internship programme.
    • Implement and maintain social networking campaigns.
    • Assist with communication materials related to recruitment.
    • Coordinate with different stakeholders.
    • Compile statistics related to recruitment.
    • Generate standard data entry using databases in Excel.
    • Review and provide input on the design of HR dashboards and compilation of statistical data.
    • Provide administrative support to ongoing projects.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Must meet one of the following at the time of application:
    • Enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • No prior working experience is required. Skills, training, and education should benefit the UN during the internship.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
