Support the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in its mission to protect all human rights, empower people to realize their rights, and assist those responsible for upholding rights.
Work within the Communications and Public Mobilization Section (CPMS) of the External Outreach and Partnerships Service (EOPS).
Assist in creating synergies between external relations services to maximize impact.
Support the development and implementation of strategies to raise awareness of human rights issues and generate support for OHCHR’s work.
Conduct research on current human rights issues to support communication and public information outreach.
Assist in managing OHCHR social media accounts for daily postings and campaigns, such as Human Rights Day and International Women’s Day.
Research social media trends and concepts for the visualization and communication of human rights topics.
Assist in using the Office’s image databases and online resources for campaign materials.
Draft posts and create engaging visuals, graphics, and videos for OHCHR social media channels in the six official UN languages.
Support creation of TikTok videos and use Adobe CC applications for layout, image editing, and vector drawing.
Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Report to the respective Unit Head under the overall guidance of the Chief of Section.
Internship is UNPAID and full-time, providing practical exposure to the work of the United Nations.

Qualifications/Special Skills
Current student in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or recent graduate of these programs. Proof of enrollment or completion required.
No prior work experience required.
Training, education, or advanced coursework should benefit the UN during the internship.
Ability to create videos or graphic design items for social media posts is required.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of French is an asset.
Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
