Project Description
The goal of this activity is to provide support to government-led education systems to strengthen these and incentivize greater ownership of, and investment in, the education sector by the Government of the Republic of South Sudan (GRSS), to help strengthen the social contract and build functioning education institutions to enable future development.
Position Description
The Education Lead is responsible for improving access, attendance and retention in schools in South Sudan. Moreover, the Education Lead will focus on professional development for in-service teachers and accelerated secondary education for volunteer teachers (who are teaching regularly but have not yet completed their certificate of secondary education), and accelerated learning/catch up education for learners, to improve the quality of teaching and learning level. S/he will also provide technical assistance at national, state, county, and payam levels to improve government policies, systems, and capacities on education and related financing and delivery.
This position is contingent upon award by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the Government of the United Kingdom.
The candidate for the position of Education Lead shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:
Education:
A minimum of a master’s degree in education or relevant discipline.
Skills and Experience:
Language: Fluency in oral and written English is required.
