About the Opportunity
DT Global is seeking expressions of interest from Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialists for an upcoming opportunity in Fiji.
About the Role
Specific roles and responsibilities are:
- Workind closely with the Project Management Unit (PMU), Team Leader, Resident Engineers and Environmental and Social Management (ESM) Specialist, to ensure that the contractor(s) comply with the country framework and requirements of the donor agencies in respect of OHS and community health and safety as well as compliance with the contract requirements and also national OHS laws and regulations
- Assist the ESM specialists with all OHS relared activities
- Provide mentoring to the FRA staff engaged on the project and Contractor’s Health and Safety staff
- Assist,as required, the contractor to prepare their health and safety plan (HSP) as part of the construction ESMP (CESMP). This will include the development of a suitable monitoring checklist.
- Advise the Contract Engineer when the HSP is satisfactory and can be approved by the PMU
- Ensures the contractor engages an approved service provider to deliver the communicable disease awareness and prevention program
- Provide training to contractors, the Client and PMU staff on OHS and community health and safety requirements and the procedures to be applied for the project
- Conduct inspections and audits, in coordination with the ESM Specialist, of the contractor(s) work site (and accommodations areas as relevant) and report on the same
- Advise the Contract Engineer if a non-compliance notice or corrective request in respect of OHS is required to be issued to, and actioned by the contractor(s)
- Contribute on OHS matters to the regular reporting including contractor compliance
About You
General qualifications
- International consultant with professional qualifications and accreditation in OHS with 10 years of experience working in OHS Onsite Construction Supervision
- The OHS specialist will be an expert in occupational health and safety with experience in civil works construction and working with contractors
- The expert should have certified or accredited training in the OHS area.
- Experience working on construction projects in the Pacific is essential
