The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities.
UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system.
The agency works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities, promoting urbanization as a transformative force to reduce inequality, discrimination, and poverty.
The position is in the Office of Human Resources and Training Unit (HRTU), Management Advisory and Compliance Service (MACS), Nairobi, Kenya.
The Graphics Design internship is for 6 months, UNPAID, and full-time.
Responsibilities
Support the HRTU team in their communication efforts to reach a wide range of clients on different communication initiatives.
Design and enhance the visual appeal of internal communication materials, including posters, quick guides, brochures, presentation decks, and templates.
Assist with improving the design and usability of online communication products.
Contribute to discussions on the visual identity of the HRTU team.
Liaise with relevant parties regarding job specifications and approval of mechanicals for dispatch.
Track and monitor production flow to ensure deadlines are met.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Special Skills
At the time of application, meet one of the following:
Enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master’s or higher)
Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor’s or equivalent)
Completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD/Doctorate program
Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds, including tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.
Preferred areas of study: Graphic Design or related fields.
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience, but the field of study should relate closely to the internship.
Experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar is required.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Previous UN internship experience should be indicated, specifying the UN entity and dates.
Interns are not financially remunerated; costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
