Internship located in the Press and External Relations Section of the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) in Geneva.
UNIS Geneva communicates the official UN position through media, press conferences, briefings, statements, interviews, podcasts, social media, and outreach events.
Provides news and information to international print and audiovisual media and serves close to 200 correspondents permanently accredited to the UN in Geneva.
Outreach Intern duties under supervision of the Press Officer (Graduate Study Programme):
Help plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate the 64th Graduate Study Programme (June–July 2026), including:
Preselection and final selection of participants
Correspondence with participants, speakers, moderators, and counterparts
Preparing documents and files in Word, Excel, PDF, Canva, PowerPoint, and Adobe Premiere Pro
Conducting statistical analyses
Proposing innovative ways to improve the Programme
Analyzing participants’ feedback
Contribute to organization and promotion of other outreach events, including:
World Press Freedom Day
International Day of UN Peacekeepers
Regular Ciné-ONU movie screenings and discussions
Contribute to creation of social media content for @UNGeneva platforms
Take lead on daily monitoring of Swiss media (French, German, Italian, English)
Attend biweekly press briefings and draft press briefing summaries
Attend meetings of human rights treaty bodies, Human Rights Council, and other major events
Draft stories in English and French on UN Geneva events and developments for iSeek, UN Geneva website, or other publications
Carry out other tasks as requested by UNIS
Qualifications/Special Skills
Must meet one of the following:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher)
Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
Field of study must be related to the type of internship applied for
Experience in organizing events and liaising with various counterparts is advantageous
Applicants must provide proof of enrollment or completion of relevant programme
Languages
Fluency in English and French, oral and written, is required
Knowledge of other UN languages (German or Italian) is an advantage

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may need appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
