Job Description

CARE is seeking a Humanitarian Program Coordinator to be a core member of CARE USA’s Humanitarian Team (HT) and the Resource Mobilization sub team. S/he will be responsible for monitoring and completing tasks related to humanitarian project/ grant management, new business, technical capacity, and management and leadership to achieve CARE’s objectives across the humanitarian portfolio.

The Program Coordinator will work in tandem with the Humanitarian Program Manager and in coordination with CARE’s Business Development Unit on developing HT’s portfolio of U.S Government grants, including but not limited to the Bureau of Humanitarian Affairs (BHA-formerly OFDA and FFP) the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (BPRM) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Private grants. S/he will be responsible for developing new business and managing strategic grants and contracts (throughout the life cycle of the award) from restricted and unrestricted funding sources.

This position oversees the training of new Senior Program Officers, Program Officers, and intern capacity to ensure consistent program quality and that grant management is compliant with donor rules and regulations. In addition, the Humanitarian Program Coordinator will contribute to keeping knowledge management platforms up to date and manage internal communication for the team. The Program Coordinator reports to the Humanitarian Program Manager and s/he must have knowledge of project management, humanitarian programs, US Government emergency funding mechanisms, technical experience across a variety of sectors as well as strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Bachelors’ Degree in International Relations, International Development, Public Health or related field). Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of project management and related experience
  • Past experience working with USG and private donors
  • Experience developing and leading humanitarian teams and programs
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Overseas experience in emergency situations – preferably in information management, grant management, communications or proposal development/coordination role
  • PMP Certification highly desired
  • Salesforce experience desired
