Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support OHCHR Evaluation, Planning, and Policy functions under the supervision of the Evaluation Officer/Programme Management Officer.
  • Assist in managing evaluations in the Evaluation Plan 2025-2026, including collecting documents, preparing meetings, and proofreading evaluation reports.
  • Draft and revise guidance, checklists, templates, executive summaries, evaluation management responses, and follow-up action plans.
  • Support communication strategies for evaluations, planning, and policy, including creating infographics, videos, summaries, and presentations.
  • Support mainstreaming of Gender Equality, Disability Inclusion, Human Rights, and Leaving No One Behind (LNOB) in evaluations and planning documents.
  • Update repositories of evaluation reports on OHCHR intranet, website, and UNEG website.
  • Organize databases of evaluation management responses and follow-up action plans.
  • Assist in uploading, reviewing, and correcting evaluation-related data in the Decision Tracking System and the evaluation module of the Performance Monitoring System (PMS).
  • Maintain databases and mailing lists of evaluation consultants and assist in screening and recruiting candidates for evaluation consultancies.
  • Support analysis, internal outreach, and presentation of data relating to OHCHR Management Plan (OMP) 2024-2027 and projects.
  • Assist in quality assurance of OHCHR work plans, country programs, projects, and related reports.
  • Support review and approval processes for planning documents, including piloting and rolling out new digital tools and workflows.
  • Support organization of events and meetings, including preparing agendas, background notes, meeting summaries, and tracking action points.
  • Contribute to harmonizing guidance and templates for governance documents (policies, SOPs, etc.) ensuring alignment with strategic requirements.
  • Compile, review, and update the database of governance documents, liaising with focal points for review of outdated documents.
  • Update intranet and decision-tracking systems with relevant policy documents and progress updates.
  • Support implementation of Organizational Effectiveness Action Plans (OEAPs) related to Leadership and Organizational Culture Shift and contribute to monitoring frameworks.
  • Assist in preparation and organization of workshops and initiatives aligned with OEAP goals.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Enrolled in or completed a second university degree (Master’s or equivalent) or final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Previous work experience is not required; fields closely related to Policy, Programming, or Human Rights are an advantage.
  • Drafting ability in English is an advantage.
  • Skills in graphic design are an advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of French or an additional UN language is an asset.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization
