Support the Knowledge Management (KM) strategy by establishing and operationalizing robust data and information management systems, including databases, directories, and knowledge products underpinning the Knowledge Hub.
Conduct desk research to identify and compile global, regional, and national STI Research, Development, and Innovation Institutions (R&Dis) and Centres of Excellence (CoEs) relevant to key sectors.
Identify and compile experts in thematic STI areas for inclusion in the Expert Roster.
Research organizations with open-access STI resources, publications, data, and indicators.
Identify potential partner institutions for capacity building initiatives.
Verify and validate collected data for accuracy and completeness.
Support creation and maintenance of directories of R&Dis and CoEs, the Expert Roster in Excel or other systems, and lists of organizations with relevant digital libraries and expert rosters.
Assist in structuring datasets to ensure ease of updating and retrieval.
Prepare, format, and upload content to the Knowledge Hub, such as summaries of TNAs, STI publications, and links to resources.
Draft brief descriptions of resources and institutions for web publication.
Assist in creating and updating the Knowledge Hub wireframe and page layouts.
Draft initial outreach emails to institutions and experts to invite participation in UNTB’s networks and rosters.
Maintain records of communications and responses; track consent forms and focal point confirmations.
Support development of progress trackers and logs for key deliverables, such as completed TNA summaries and updated directories.
Assist in preparing progress reports and presentations for management and donors.
Participate in team discussions and capacity-building sessions on KM tools and practices.
Contribute ideas to improve data workflows and information management processes.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in, or completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or higher), or enrolled in/completed the final year of a first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent).
Degree in a field closely related to the internship is advantageous.
Demonstrated tech-savviness and ability to quickly learn and use digital tools, platforms, and software relevant to the role.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.
Fluency in English is required (fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
Additional Information
Internship is full-time and supervised by the Managing Director.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN. Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the internship country may require appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Candidates should clarify visa requirements before accepting the offer.
