Job Description

Expected Duration

  • 6 (six) months

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the Transition Support Plan, including coordination across the department for timely delivery of materials and support.
  • Serve as a focal point for administrative tracking and project coordination.
  • Assist in the review and monitoring of programme and budget proposals, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Assist in drafting and coordinating programme reports in multiple languages.
  • Maintain and update programme databases and records; generate reports, statistical analyses, and briefing materials.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent), or
  • Have graduated with a university degree and meet all internship eligibility criteria.
  • Completed online application (Cover Note and Personal History Profile) is required.
  • Cover Note must include:
    • Title of current degree program
    • Graduation date
    • IT skills and programs proficiency
    • Top three areas of interest
    • Explanation of suitability for the internship
    • Interest in the United Nations Internship Programme
  • Adherence to UN internship rules, including conflict of interest, confidentiality, and impartiality.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., MS Office 365 or similar).
  • Demonstrated interest in the UN’s work and ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare reports and presentations.

Languages

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).

Additional Information

  • Internship is UNPAID and full-time (35 hours/week); may be adapted to part-time or hybrid arrangements in exceptional cases.
  • Interns are responsible for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.
  • Non-citizens or non-residents may require appropriate visa and work authorization
