Expected Duration

  • 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct media outreach activities.
  • Support the production, editing, and communication of SSRU digital content.
  • Assist in drafting communications materials, including social media posts and blogs.
  • Manage SSRU website and publish approved content.
  • Update and maintain SSRU’s social media presence on all major platforms.
  • Organize photo banks, mailing lists, and archival content.
  • Produce media digest on SSR activities.
  • Support communication-based activities, including virtual events and visual communication.
  • Advise SSRU on strategic communication.
  • Gather, research, analyze, and present information from various sources.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Be enrolled in or have completed:
    • A graduate school program (Master’s degree or equivalent, or higher); or
    • The final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Field of study should be closely related to the internship applied for.
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts.
  • Ability to design surveys and polls.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of French or another UN official language is an advantage.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need appropriate visas and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should discuss specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer
