Job Description

Work Location

  • Flexible (Hybrid, all remote, or in-person)

Expected Duration

  • 3 months
  • Desired start date: 13 November 2025, or sooner

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Duration of internship: 3 months, full-time (35 hours per week), on UN premises in New York, USA.
    • Can be adjusted to part-time (20 hours/week) and/or remote based on candidate needs.
  • Work with the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (DMEL) team of the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) to support Monitoring & Evaluation initiatives, global data generation on PBF results, and programmatic overview.

I. Evaluation

  • Record project evaluations uploaded to the MPTF Gateway or received by email in the internal PBF evaluation tracker and disseminate to the PBF website.
  • Track overdue project evaluations.
  • Support portfolio evaluations, including data and document collection for inception phase and consolidation of Reference Groups’ comments.
  • Prepare summaries and social media content on key evaluation findings.
  • Organize evaluation validation meetings and brown bag sessions.
  • Extract results from PBF project and portfolio evaluations to populate Microsoft Lists database.
  • Support impact evaluations and peacebuilding “Deep Dive” exercises, including research and communication outputs.

II. PBF M&E Peer Support Group

  • Support meeting preparation (invitations, presentations, alignment of English/French/Spanish versions).
  • Develop and update a repository of M&E tools and good practices from PBF practitioners.
  • Maintain communication lists (email and WhatsApp).

III. Dashboard Peacebuilding Priorities and SDGs Coding

  • Support implementation of the new coding method by project teams.
  • Conduct learning sessions/training for PBF HQ staff.

IV. Other Emerging Tasks

  • Support knowledge management and development of knowledge products.
  • Manually update Microsoft Lists database with new PBF project results and assign relevant themes.
  • Assist in report preparation, summaries, and meeting notes.
  • Support communication and reporting tasks as needed.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (Master’s or higher).
    • Enrolled in or completed the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Field of study should be closely related to the internship type.
  • Students in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programmes are eligible.
  • Official proof of enrollment or degree completion must be provided at application stage.

Languages

  • English and French are UN working languages.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
