Work Location

  • Home-based or Vienna HQ

Expected Duration

  • January–April 2026 (with the possibility of extension till June 2026)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Innovation and Partnership Section, Research and Analysis Branch (RAB), Division for Public Affairs (DPA), UNODC, Vienna.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the research coordinator of the TiPSoM Team.
  • Contribute to the conceptualization of a database designed to track indicators on trafficking in persons.
  • Contribute to the production of country profiles for the global report on trafficking in persons.
  • Proactively source data for the Global Report through online incident research and liaison with national partners.
  • Enter identified and formatted data into the database.
  • Perform a pilot analysis of the data.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of a first university degree, Master’s or Ph.D. programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
  • Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
  • Applicants are responsible for travel, visa, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses during the internship.
  • Previous UN internship experience should be indicated, including UN entity and dates.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
  • Working languages of the UN Secretariat: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish.

  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should discuss specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
