The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full-time, 40 hours).
UNODC provides technical assistance to Member States in combating terrorism, organized crime, corruption, and drugs, supporting criminal justice and health systems, and assisting with ratification and implementation of international conventions and protocols.
The UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP) delivers a coherent programme of work to:
Support Member States and regional partners in achieving priority crime and drug outcomes.
Increase responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness of UNODC’s support in the region.
The Regional Programme focuses on coordinated cross-border and intra-regional cooperation, covering five sub-programmes:
Transnational Organised Crime
Anti-Corruption
Terrorism Prevention
Criminal Justice Systems
Drugs and Health, and Alternative Development
Internship Purpose
Support the preparation and production of the 2025 UNODC ROSEAP Annual Report by assisting with data collection, content development, multimedia integration, and coordination with country offices and programme teams.
Report to the Associate Programme Development Officer (first reporting officer) and the Communication Officer (second reporting officer).
Key Tasks
Assist in compiling inputs from country offices and thematic programme teams.
Support the development of human-interest stories and impact narratives.
Organize content by country and thematic area.
Prepare visual materials using tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, or other design platforms.
Support the M&E Officer in extracting and organizing data from monitoring tools (e.g., Smartsheet).
Ensure data accuracy and consistency across report sections.
Provide initial proofreading and formatting support.
Track feedback from focal points and incorporate revisions under supervision.
Liaise with focal points from country offices and programme teams to follow up on contributions.
Assist in scheduling and documenting meetings of the Annual Report Working Group.
Assist in preparing the final version of the report for approval and dissemination.
Support the uploading and formatting of the electronic version of the report.
Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Meet one of the following criteria:
Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Computer literacy in standard software applications, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, and familiarity with design/visual tools (e.g., Canva).
Demonstrated ability to draft reports and produce high-quality written content.
Ability to independently conduct research and develop research products.
Knowledge and experience with data management and analysis tools is desirable.
Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Knowledge of UNODC mandate areas and regional security dynamics is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Fluency in spoken and written Thai is desirable.
Intern Specific Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need to obtain appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
