Support the development and implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) in Kosovo.
Report to the Spatial/Urban Planning Advisor under the guidance of the Chief Technical Advisor and the Urban Mobility Unit at HQ in Nairobi.
Collaborate with municipal and ministerial partners engaged in the SUMP process.
Key responsibilities:
Support data collection, organization, and analysis relevant to transport and mobility (e.g., surveys, mapping, observation).
Assist in preparing maps, diagrams, and visualizations to support mobility planning activities (knowledge of GIS or design tools is an asset, but not mandatory).
Contribute to drafting reports, presentations, and knowledge products related to sustainable urban mobility.
Support the preparation and organization of workshops, consultations, and meetings with partners and stakeholders, including reporting and minute-taking.
Contribute to communication and outreach activities, including drafting website news, social media posts, or visuals.
Provide logistical and administrative support for programme implementation.
Perform other mobility-related tasks as required.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Must meet one of the following:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher).
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level).
Have graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD.
Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred areas of study: Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban/Spatial Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated academic knowledge or project-based experience in relevant fields (transport planning, civil engineering, urban planning/design, environmental science, geography, or related).
Familiarity with data collection, GIS, mapping tools, or visualization software is desirable.
Experience working with municipal authorities, community groups, or multi-stakeholder consultations is desirable.
Ability to conduct research, gather data, and structure findings into coherent analyses or visualizations.

Languages
Fluency in oral and written English (required).
Knowledge of another UN language (desirable).
