The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Chief Financial Controller Directorate (CFC) - Corporate Real Estate Department (CRE) - Real Estate Development Division (RED) - Capital Projects Unit (CP), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship

As a trainee in the Capital Projects Unit (CP), you will contribute to the design and coordination of high-profile spaces in the EIB’s new building, including executive offices, boardroom, and protocol areas, and support Building Information Modeling (BIM) activities for renovation projects.

You will work on real design layouts, prepare drawings and presentations, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders to bring complex workplace projects to life.

This traineeship offers the chance to develop your skills in project design, space planning, and BIM coordination within an international, multidisciplinary environment, gaining hands-on experience in managing large-scale real estate projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the team, you will participate actively in the design coordination and delivery of key areas within the new EIB building. Your main tasks will be to:

  • Assist in developing and updating interior layouts, design drawings, and furniture plans based on existing blueprints;
  • Support the preparation of design presentations, reports, and project documentation;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants on design specifications and project deliverables;
  • Contribute to Building Information Modeling (BIM) updates and the coordination of model data for renovation projects;
  • Participate in project meetings and assist in tracking design progress, decisions, and actions.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or university degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or related fields;
  • Knowledge of design and planning tools, ideally AutoCAD, Revit, and/or BIM coordination software (e.g. Navisworks), would be considered an advantage;
  • Ability to prepare and present design layouts, reports, and project documentation in English;
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and follow up on multiple tasks in a dynamic environment;
  • Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English; knowledge of French would be an advantage.
