The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate (PJ) - Sustainability & Quality Management Department (SQM) - Advisory Services Coordination Division (ASC) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship

In the context of the implementation of the newly adopted EIB Advisory Streamlining and Strategic Orientations approved in April 2025, the Advisory Services Coordination Division (ASC) of the Project Directorate (PJ) will need you to support the team in:

  • The standardisation of capacity building products in line with the Advisory Strategic Orientations.
  • The progressive development of digital modalities for the delivery of capacity building activities.
  • The design and implementation of pilot online trainings, in cooperation with other EIB sectoral and advisory teams.
  • The implementation of selected activities under the capacity building and knowledge sharing programmes implemented in cooperation with the European Commission.
  • The rationalization of capacity building knowledge based in order to create a structured repository for relevant materials, documents and reports produced through the various advisory initiatives.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of your supervisor from the Advisory Services Coordination Division, you will:

  • Perform an analysis of capacity building and knowledge sharing activities implemented in the context of various EIB Advisory mandates, and other relevant EIB activities.
  • Perform a literature review and research relevant experiences to support the development of selected pilot online trainings.
  • Assist in collecting input from PJ advisory, sector and thematic experts that can contribute to the design of future capacity building and knowledge sharing activities, including the development of case studies and technical guidance documents.
  • Support the Division in the organisation of selected capacity building and knowledge sharing activities.
  • Assist in the creation a structured repository for relevant materials, documents and reports produced through the various advisory initiatives.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University Degree in economics, engineering, public management, social science, European studies, business administration or other relevant fields.
  • Familiarity with EU policy framework, the role of the EIB and funding schemes linked to the implementation of Cohesion Policy and other EU funds is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of applied research methods and a general understanding of knowledge management techniques is an advantage.
  • Experience in research activities in an academic setting, production of academic papers/publications, preparation of capacity building activities (including online trainings) and the development of case studies would be an advantage. Candidates are requested to provide details of their experience in their application.
  • Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
