The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Shareholder Relations and Institutional Matters Department (SR&IM) - Institutional Representation Division (IRD) and Operations Directorate (OPS) - Public Sector Department (PS) - Public Sector - Austria, Germany and Nordics Division (6-AT,DE,NORD) at its EIB Local office in Berlin, Germany: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

Objective of the traineeship
Under the responsibility of the Head of EIB Group Office in Germany - based in Berlin - you will mainly contribute to a data collection on major political and economic developments in Germany relevant to EIB’s activity and on EIB Group activity in Germany. This information will be a key added value to produce briefings and to feed our communication material - particularly in the context of the government’s ambitious climate-oriented transition agenda requiring the expansion of renewable energy supply as well as the decarbonisation of German industry.
Additionally, you will participate in the organisation of events and contribute to making the EIB better known across Germany. You will also support the activities of the Public Sector and Infrastructure Lending Division of the EIB in the German market. The successful candidate will gain knowledge of the lending process of the EIB as the EU Bank and the largest multinational financial institution in the world.
Responsibilities
You will have to develop a comprehensive knowledge of the EIB Activity (EIB, EIF, Advisory, Institute) and then collect information in an efficient manner to enhance our capacity to inform and communicate. With the support of the Senior Media Officer and the Head of the Office, you will work on a communication campaign towards national authorities by providing key information of the activity of the EU Bank. The theme could be adapted to the climate-oriented priorities of the government while preserving the competitiveness of the industry. Climate and Innovation will definitely be in the center, but also other priorities like defense & security.
Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and the resident Loan Officer in Berlin, the trainee will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main tasks will be:
