The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Shareholder Relations and Institutional Matters Department (SR&IM) - Institutional Representation Division (IRD) at its EIB Local office in Zagreb, Croatia: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

Objective of the traineeship

The goal of the traineeship is to support the EIB Zagreb Office in its engagement with the VP Office and Croatian public officials for a successful representation and enhanced the visibility of the EIB institution. As the EIB Group has a solid portfolio and pipeline of activities for the next year, it is expected that this institutional engagement will support their implementation in several areas of the organisation (incl. EIB and EIF investment activities, advisory and events).

You will report to the Head of Office and also work together with the Office Manager. You will have the opportunity to learn representation and communication skills, EIB administrative procedures, communication, and social media, and be exposed to operational activities (monitoring, signatures and protocol events) from an institutional angle.

Responsibilities

Your tasks will be various ranging from:

  • Organisation of events and meetings (logistics and invitations).
  • Maintaining database of stakeholders.
  • Contacting public organisations.
  • Liaising with colleagues from EU Commission and other EU and international organisations as needed.
  • Collecting data, preparing databases, and perform guided analysis.
  • Preparing presentations.
  • Writing draft notes, reports, and other tasks as needed.

The role will include support the Head of Office with the posting on the Social Media to improve the communication of the Office and the EIB projects in Croatia.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree preferably in Economics, Finance, Business Management, and/or Communication.
  • Good communication skills and proactive attitude.
  • Good analytical and drafting skills.
  • Working knowledge of Social Media platforms, especially Linked-In.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Power Point.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Working knowledge of Croatian would be an advantage.
