The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Shareholder Relations and Institutional Matters Department (SR&IM) - Institutional Representation Division (IRD) at its local EIB Local office in Bucharest, Romania: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

Objective of the traineeship

The objective of the traineeship is to support the EIB Group Office in Romania for the activities planned in line with the EIB Group communication strategy for the short and medium-term in Romania. You will work in Bucharest Office and will contribute actively to the engagement and communication between EIB Group and Romanian stakeholders and the promotion of EIB Group activities and financing opportunities in Romania, will assist the Head of Office in the preparation of various events where invited to speak, will provide support for the events and meetings planned for 2026 in Romania. You will be part of one of the biggest EIB Group offices within the EU, working in a dynamic and multicultural environment, and will have the opportunity to develop professional skills and gain professional experience by working with teams from Bucharest Office and from headquarters in Luxembourg.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Head of Office, you will:

  • Provide input for speeches, briefings and presentations for events where the Head of Office is invited to represent the EIB Group (seminars, workshop, conferences, meetings with Romanian stakeholders).
  • Accompany the Head of Office at events and meetings, when necessary.
  • Perform internal research activities and gathering materials on various topics, such as EIB Group priorities and identify lines to take (LTTS) within the EIB Group.
  • Support the organisation of EIB Group events and meetings planned for 2026 in Romania.
  • Assist in various ad-hoc administrative and logistical matters within the Bucharest Office.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in economics, international relations, communication or a business-related field.
  • Familiarity with international financial institutions would be a plus.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of EIB Group’s mission and activities.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Romanian will be considered a strong advantage.
