Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and policy analysis on trade and international development issues in ITC priority areas, with a focus on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
  • Monitor and report on intergovernmental meetings related to trade, entrepreneurship, green and resilient recovery, women’s economic empowerment, and other ITC-relevant topics.
  • Support ITC’s engagement with Permanent Missions by analyzing country information and identifying development programme activities aligned with ITC strategic priorities.
  • Draft and contribute to talking points, meeting notes, reports, and other written materials related to ITC’s priority areas.
  • Provide administrative and communications support to the ITC Office to the United Nations.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of events.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support the work of the Office.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Applicants must meet one of the following at the time of application:
    • Enrolled in the final academic year of the first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent), or
    • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or
    • Graduated with a university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s equivalent) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Computer literate and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
    • Good communication skills, particularly in writing.
    • Knowledge of and interest in the United Nations development system.

Languages

  • Good working knowledge of English.
  • Knowledge of other UN languages is a bonus.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
