Contribute to the coordination of UNCTAD16, the 16th quadrennial UNCTAD conference in Geneva (October 2025).
Assist with preparations before, during, and after the conference.
Draft official correspondence (letters, invitations, memos) and maintain records/databases on participants and delegations.
Support logistical arrangements for meetings and sessions.
Prepare draft content for newsletters and staff updates.
Support coordination meetings, including taking minutes and following up on action points.
Provide on-site support during the conference.
Gain direct exposure to the operations of a major UN conference.
Develop professional skills in communications and coordination.
General Internship Obligations
Observe all applicable UN rules, regulations, instructions, procedures, and directives.
Provide the receiving departments/offices with a copy of all materials prepared during the internship. The UN holds property rights for any material produced during the internship.
Respect the impartiality and independence of the UN and the receiving department; do not accept external instructions.
Do not communicate confidential information to media or external sources without authorization.
Refrain from any conduct that would adversely reflect on the UN or conflict with its objectives.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher) or the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Computer literate in standard software applications.
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Desirable: familiarity with digital communication platforms (SharePoint, Mailchimp), ability to work independently and collaboratively, and strong writing skills.
No prior work experience required.
Languages
Fluency in English and French is required.

Intern Specific Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
