to help Haiti not only in the immediate aftermath of the Jan. 12 earthquake but also in building back better in the months to come. In an editorial for the Washington Post, he also asked the community to keep the bigger picture in mind - that helping Haiti in its time of need can be a powerful message for the rest of the world's population, especially those that experience poverty. The U.N. chief lamented that the community is "far from delivering on our promises of a better future for the world's poor."
