IDB, Colombian Foundation Helps Rebuild Haitian Public School

The Inter-American Development Bank and Barefoot Foundation, led by Colombian singer Shakira, are donating $800,000 to help rebuild a public school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The Elie Dubois school is located in downtown Port-au-Prince and suffered heavy damage from the earthquake in 2010. IDB and Barefoot Foundation’s contribution for its reconstruction is part of the bank’s support for the Haitian government’s efforts to expand access to quality free education. IDB expects to provide up to $250 million over five years in support for the government’s reform plans.
