Abeer Altaher

For the past four years I’ve been developing my experience in the crisis response operations through working within the M&E department at International relief and development (IRD), by monitoring and evaluating the distribution of food and non-food items to Southern Syria for Food for Peace (FFP), World Food Program (WFP), Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), UNHCR, and UNICEF. In addition, to observe the implementation of the WASH and Quick Impact projects. Most recently, I have joined DFID project for strengthening governance structure in Syria where we help to develop the capacity of local councils and insure the participation of Syrian people in decision-making process. I have also developed my experience previously with youth through voluntary work with Jordanian NGOs. As a Youth Committee member of the Jordanian Association for Family Planning and Protection (JAFPP), an NGO receiving USAID grants, I could explore Youth perceptions on family planning and reproductive health and identify obstacles and opportunities to develop youth-friendly reproductive health information and services. I have also volunteered with Princess Alia Foundation to support school enrollment with youth at risk. At the university, I participated in the initiative “Make others happy” to entertain orphans and fulfill their basic needs such as clothing and food. I contributed to an awareness project on reproductive health and drug prevention with Greatest Amman Municipality (GAM) where I conducted community lectures in the GAM centers e.g. Ras Al Ayn and Khrebet Essouk with various audiences including female youth.
