I possess over 20 years' experience in programme development, management, monitoring and evaluation, having worked at various levels in Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Somalia/ Somaliland. Currently, I am the Senior Program Manager, East Africa at Conflict Dynamics International; in this position, I lead in developing of implementation plans for the organization's programs in Sudan and Somalia. Until May 2023, I was the Team Leader for EU funded, technical assistance where I provided strategic leadership and overall direction to FCG Sweden Development AB programmes and operations in Somalia and Somaliland. Previously, I designed, managed and led implementation of democratic/accountable governance, security and stabilisation as well as environment/natural resources management (including climate change, renewable energy, food security and sustainable livelihoods) programmes supported by different development partners including USAID (both contracts and cooperative agreements), DFID/FCDO (accountable grants), SIDA, DANIDA and European Union (both service contracts and grants). I am an experienced team leader and have led multi-disciplinary teams in implementing large and complex development programmes implemented by both individual organizations as well as consortia of organisations; for example, I have been responsible for line managing programme managers and technical specialists in advocacy, conflict management (including countering violent extremism), accountable governance (including public participation and community mobilisation) and sustainable management of natural resources (including supporting establishment of nature-based enterprises), organisational development/capacity building and M&E specialists. I have led in developing both organisational and programmes strategy as well as operational/implementation plans for both local and international NGOs. Additionally, I have led the development of the organisational programmes' strategy and overseeing its implementation through annual workplans and budgets. I have also led, mentored and supervised advocacy teams and overseen the implementation of advocacy interventions in diverse areas including elections/electoral reforms, security sector reforms, decentralisation/local governance, land sector reforms and judicial reforms.
