Joseph Ruhiu is an environmental and community development practitioner with over 20 years practical experience specializing in programmes and projects development and management linking environment and poverty. He is well versed with the Kenyan environmental and natural resource poverty nexus at national, regional and international level including aspects of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, 2015). Joseph Ruhiu is a practicing programmes’ management specialist with many years of experience gained while working with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF). He has held senior management positions in the two organizations where he has worked since his graduation with a Bachelor of Science in ecological studies from Nairobi University in 1996 and later with a Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management from Leicester University, UK in 1993. He has wide experience in diverse fields including programme/projects development and management; strategic planning, grants management, socio-economic development, environmental management, ecosystem management, environmental assessments and auditing, community development, bio-diversity conservation and support to rural livelihood systems. He is competent in research formulation and execution a keen methodologist and an effective communicator.
