An agricultural and development economist with expertise and experience in analytical development and policy economics focusing on agro-industrial development, accumulated from 25 years of advanced multidisciplinary training, teaching and research, and development practice. My expertise is built around evidence-informed socio-economic development, especially rural, agriculture, and food systems, with a focus on applied research and analytics to identify constraints to systems innovation and generate technically sound policy and program solutions. Research and advocacy work has supported development organizations, agribusiness SMEs, and policy makers to leverage regional trade, science, technology, and innovation, and entrepreneurship for development, and conduct adaptive appraisal, design, and evaluation of strategies and programs. These include understanding the structure and performance of agro-industrial markets and value chains, especially the drivers of systemic change.
