Summary

With over 36 years of work experience in the livestock sector, Mr Jurjen Draaijer has consistently demonstrated strong organisational, leadership and implementation skills and an excellent ability to work in and manage interdisciplinary teams. He has served effectively in multiple developing countries in Africa, Asia, the Near East and Latin America. He has solid analytical, conceptual, implementation, innovation, networking, training and facilitation skills and a broad knowledge of rural development issues. Key focus areas include climate change, livestock Farmer Field Schools (FFS), livestock value chains, animal feed, livestock and emergencies and local organisational development in cattle, dairy, poultry, small ruminant and pig production systems. In addition, he has highly relevant experience in project management and project formulation for USAID, EC, ECHO, FAO, World Bank, IFAD, AFD, Asian Development Bank, GIZ, KFW, the Netherlands and SDC-funded projects and the successful management of livestock value chain teams in exceptionally challenging work environments, including Eritrea, Iraq, DPR Korea and Somalia. Jurjen is a certified LEGS (Livestock and Emergency Guidelines and Standards), CowSignals (www.cowsignals.com), SheepSignals and PigSignals trainer.
