
Highly experienced humanitarian professional with multi-sector and specialist expertise in protection, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and disaster risk reduction (DRR). He has significant recent and long term field experience in multiple complex, conflict, and emergency contexts including South Sudan, Philippines, Colombia, Angola and Croatia. Strenghts include negociation, context analysis (e.g. conflict, situational, and stakeholder), needs assessment, community-based protection, civilian protection including ceasefire monitoring, negotiation (access and maintenance), mediation (e.g. shuttle diplomacy) peace-building; IHL and IHRL, capacity building, WASH, child protection (including grave child rights violations GCRV), gender based violence (GBV), housing land and property (HLP) rights, M&E, and research. In 2017 he published the widely read article "Displacement and dispossession: redefining forced displacement and identifying when forced displacement becomes pillage under international humanitarian law" which regards the practical field application of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to reduce civilian vulnerability to displacement and dispossession. He is also an experienced Architectural professional whose skills have been used to improve, considering acceptance, compound safety and security. His current career objective is to work for an INGO or other international organization engaged in reducing civilian vulnerability to armed conflict and natural disaster.
