Gender Justice Consultant and Researcher I Feminist I Fighting structures of power and Gender Inequality I Gender Mainstreaming I Human Rights Activist I Research, Advocacy and Activism I have a Master's degree in Development Studies and a Postgraduate degree in Human Rights and in my 20-year career I have had the opportunity to contribute as a program manager, consultant and researcher to large national and international organizations working in the area of gender such as Global Affairs Canada, UNICEF, SDC, IBIS, OXFAM UK/NOVIB and Canada, UNFPA, USAID and national organizations such as Forum Mulher, MUVA, NAFEZA, NWETY, among others. This experience allowed me to expand my view on gender and learn to work with different approaches and perspectives. One of the advantages of being an international consultant, with a specialization in human rights, is that I’m knowledgeable of the national laws and the international human rights system and have a broad understanding of global policies and laws, allowing me to implement human rights approaches. As a program manager, I have gained experience in fundraising, implementation, monitoring, program evaluation and learning, lobbying and advocacy, capacity building of partners, among others, taking into account the historical, socio-cultural, political and legal context of Mozambique, regional and globally. Working at different levels (local, national, regional, and global) in different countries such as Angola and Ethiopia has helped me understand the various perceptions that different groups have about the same situation, and has made me understand the importance of finding inclusive and collaborative methodologies and strategies to work together in a way that reflects the needs of the people and what they are, their role as agents in the process and not only as recipients.
