We are seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Administration and Finance Officer role based in Nuku’alofa, Tonga.

Program Background

The Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access (PHAMA) Plus Program commenced in late 2018. Its precursor program PHAMA commenced in 2011 and this phase of evolving support will result with the program spanning over 15 years. The overall purpose of PHAMA Plus is to contribute to improved economic growth and rural livelihoods for Pacific peoples, with an emphasis on gender equity and inclusion and climate sustainability. PHAMA Plus continues to resonate strongly with the economic development, economic integration and regional strategic intentions underpinning the foreign policies of both Australia and New Zealand.

PHAMA Plus aims to improve economic growth and rural livelihoods in smallholder households across 10 Pacific countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu), while also developing and growing export opportunities for Pacific primary exports to Australia, New Zealand and other countries. PHAMA Plus is commercially focused, export oriented and inclusive. It has three end-of-program outcomes:

  • Producers and exporters use maintained and new export market access for Pacific export products.
  • Women and men exporters, processors and producers adopt quality and productivity enhancing innovations for their export products.
  • Women and men staff of Pacific biosecurity authorities perform their market access facilitation functions better.

DT Global is the managing contractor of the Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access Plus program (PHAMA Plus) – an Australian and New Zealand Government funded aid program promoting primary industry exports from 10 Pacific countries (Fiji, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Kiribati, Niue and Tuvalu).

The Role

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals for the role of Administration and Finance Officer - Tonga to join our PHAMA Plus team in Tonga. The role is responsible for supporting the overseeing of the country office operations, financial management, logistics and travel, assets and procurement. They will provide timely and effective finance and administration support for PHAMA Plus and are the contact point for office operations, maintenance, procurement, equipment (IT), meeting/event support, travel, filing, other financial and general administration.

About You

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and proven experience in the area of office operation, finance management, travel and events management. They will be highly organised, with excellent time management skills and have attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be conscious about of health and safety, and general office upkeep. They will have a self-motivated, outcome focused with a ‘can do’ attitude, and ability to work independently and with a diverse team.
